Caleb Sampen is a former professional baseball pitcher known for his stellar career at Wright State University and in the minors with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays. Today, he trains pitchers through The Pitch Club at Samp’s Hack Shack.
Collegiate Career at Wright State University (2016-2018)
Excelled as a right-handed pitcher in the Horizon League, compiling a 14-4 record, 2.92 ERA, 1.073 WHIP, and 90 strikeouts over 141.2 innings (redshirted 2017). Highlights: Undefeated 2018 season; NCAA Tournament win over Ohio State; complete games vs. NKU and Valparaiso.
Key Awards: Horizon League Freshman of the Year, Second Team All-Horizon League, Horizon League Freshman Team, Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, Horizon League All-Academic Team, All-Tournament Team.
Professional Baseball Career (2018-2023)
Drafted 20th round (614th overall) by the Dodgers in 2018; Traded to Rays.
- 2019 with Bowling Green Hot Rods (Class A): 9-4 record, 2.68 ERA, 1.017 WHIP, 104 strikeouts in 121 innings. Advanced to Double-A Montgomery Biscuits.
- 2019 Awards: Midwest League Mid-Season and Post-Season All-Star. Bowling Green Hot Rods MVP.
